Valentine's Day Surprise!
My wonderful husband made my day when we were out and about for Valentine's Day and we stopped by the feed store in Covington where we used to live. Ryan knew I had been hinting at chickens (and ducks!) for months! Well, I didn't think he would ACTUALLY give in to my hints that very day, but he said "Pick some out, 'cause we're getting chickens!" which resulted in my reply "What?!?! YAAAAY!" You couldn't take away my huge smile that day even if you tried your hardest! I was sooooo happy... and they are the cutest ever. Yay for eggs in the coming months!
These beauties have been growing so fast over the past two weeks that we needed to upgrade them a bit and get them out of the house... for more than one reason! Ryan assembled this chicken coop that, although it is on the small in size, it will be a great starter for them, and we have a fenced in area of our yard that will be perfect for them to stretch their wings and explore outside their little coop.
It doesn't end there!
Valentine's Day didn't end with getting cute little chickies... Ryan went as far as to recreate the dinner scene from lady and the tramp right in our living room. I have NEVER seen "Lady and the Tramp" and it was just a perfectly romantic gesture for Ryan to put it all together. I was genuinely surprised - and that is perfect because Ryan knows I LOVE surprises.
My portion of gift giving and memory making was more so in the beginning of the day when I made breakfast for Ryan and we went on a walk around the land surrounding our home. It doesn't really hold a light to all that Ryan did -- but I made the breakfast with love, and spending time with him without any other agenda was wonderful. Oh yes, and my official gift which is not pictured was an 18" machete to add to Ryan's arsenal of land clearing weapons. He loved it!
We had an opportunity to babysit my niece and nephew while their parents were off in Colorado celebrating their 10 year anniversary. One baby to take care of might be easy, but two can be a handful. With the trifecta of Ryan, myself, and Ryan's dad -- it was interesting. While Ryan and Mr. Lance took Cole into the woods for some adventure time, Ellie and I hung back swinging away and enjoying the outdoors our way :) Ryan was the humor that kept the kids laughing, I was the schedule keeper and diaper changer, while Mr. Lance joined in the humor and was the bottle feeding king with Ellie. We worked together and although I may take the credit for doing the messy work, in the end we all got to make sure these little ones felt loved while their mommy and daddy were away.
Welcome to Church!
This past Sunday our church celebrated "the church". I say it that way because the definition of church isn't a building, and it isn't defined by the decor or even the fancy lights and music. The church represents the people, and the love of God being shown through them. There was no shortage of servant's hearts that stepped up to make this beautiful celebration a success. The kids had a blast with pony rides and bounce houses outside, while the adults had a great time of fellowship and food. It was literally a miracle that there wasn't any rain! All in all, I am amazed to see this many people have the same heart to serve and show others that the church is what it should be, a helping hand, a kind heart, a motivator, a protector, a voice of truth, a family.
** I realize there isn't a picture of me and Ryan, but I assure you we both were there having a great time!**
Someone is having a baby in our family --- Congrats Derek & Hannah!
We are over the moon excited to have another niece or nephew added to our family. My brother Derek and sister-in-law Hannah had a very fun and unique way of announcing that they are having a baby! When I saw this video I thought nothing of it at first because I'm used to seeing the two of them make funny music videos, but this one was extra special!!! You two are going to be amazing parents. We can't wait to see you and congratulate you in person and meet this precious baby when he or she finally arrives!
February was packed full and I can say with confidence the best is yet to come. We have many home projects still in the process, so please forgive me for not posting before and after pics quite yet. I promise when they are finished I will post pics. As always, thanks so much for reading, we love you all and Happy March!
