Pinterest - it's a good day when it actually works!
Any individual who has encountered that unmistakable red 'P' floating around on the internet has inevitably been sucked into that which is Pinterest. I must admit Pinterest has been the hero some days for me. It's pre-made creativity, which some would say is kinda shallow, but hey -- I am eternally grateful for its inspiration! For instance, just this past Monday I was bewildered and at the point of frustration because I could not figure out how to get rid of those pesky toilet bowl rings! Luckily, the first post that I followed from Pinterest was from a woman that had tried 'all the tricks in the book' til she finally found one that worked!
Here is the magical product -- it so works!

On the subject of cleaning, another popular cleaning life hack from Pinterest I finally implemented was a great solution for keeping your shower clean. Fill a fillable scrub brush with one part dawn and one part vinegar (I only had apple cider vinegar, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt). Scrub down the shower or tub every so often to keep it nice and clean without having to do a deep clean!
One of my favorite parts about having Pinterest is that having it be so popular, so many people can relate to it, and I love that from this common interest grew a small group with the youth girls from church! We meet twice a month, try our best effort to attempt Pinterest projects, and have a great time in the process. It's really awesome also to tie in a time of devotion where we all connect and encourage each other. And even if our pins fail, we still have a good time - but so far so good! We're 2 for 2!
It's always a good time for a safari!
We got to go on quite a fun adventure a couple weekends ago. Our dear friends, the Grangers, invited us out to celebrate Sarah's birthday on a little safari. I know what you're thinking, south Louisiana and safari do NOT mix. Logic would say that, however, on 900 acres in the countryside of Folsom, Louisiana you'll find the Global Wildlife Center which is home to close to 3,000 animals ranging from giraffe to camel to zebra. Again, you might be thinking, I could just go to the zoo and see those animals. True! But here you actually get to take a truck into the acres of land and feed them! Or some of the animals, as you'll see, decided to feed themselves! There were shrieks of laughter coming from the unpredictability of the animals when they interacted with us. It was hilarious! We had a blast with Jason and Sarah.
Foreign friends.
So, this is friend that we have come to know since September of last year, but only recently did we get a chance to really connect and make some memories with. Natalia, one of the sweetest girls you'll ever meet. She is an exchange student from Moldova, she studies Piano at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. She has exquisite talent in piano and extensive knowledge in music theory. In our many conversations, we talked about where she grew up and the culture in which she lived in back home, and how it differs to the culture here in America, specifically in Louisiana. It was really interesting to see the comparison as well as the contrast of culture. It's a shame we don't have a piano in our home, so Ryan ended up improvising and introduced Natalia to an unusual yet intriguing instrument, the didgeridoo. Overall, it was a great night, we hope to have many more like it! We love you Natalia!
2 minutes and 20 seconds of amusement.
So, Ryan's talent for filming and editing has definitely had a chance to grow since developing his position at the church. And I must say this is a pretty hilarious video he put together for our church announcements. None other than Jason Granger, was by his side to add to the comedy. Click below and check it out for yourselves!
Our chickens - another upgrade to their home!
So as they these little chicklings have sprouted their big girl feathers, they naturally wanted to spread their wings. We also wanted to make them a home they would be safe and secure in as well as having ample space to run around and scratch in the dirt. Ryan's hands went to work to finally finish securing their outdoor pen and modify their 'petite' coup. Don't mind the picture of Ryan holding two of them, somehow it looks like some sort of weird conjoined twin chicken...lol! Photo fail!
